Gondwana Collection Namibia, PSG Wealth und Greenspace Namibia is partnering to a hub of protection, recreation and community engagement to support the development of Avis Dam and benefit Windhoek residents and all other visitors. Through a new and formal understanding memorandum (MOU), they are committed to sustainability, visitor health and safety, and environmental preservation.
The non-profit initiative aims to maintain and strengthen Avis Dam as a vibrant community space, focusing on improving recreational opportunities, developing environmental information centres, and promoting the community as a major urban conservation and education site. Planned improvements include the introduction of enhanced trails with clear route markings, the introduction of information panels to educate and entertain visitors, improving digital engagement with the Avis Dam Forum, and fostering further engagement with new partners and possible investors.
A modern information center at the main entrance and a digital platform that includes a user-friendly mobile app, provides visitors with the latest updates on activities, trails and events while simplifying your admission fee payments.
This collaboration brings together resources and expertise to enhance the ecological, recreational and educational values of Avis Dam. Greenspace Namibia will be the leaseholder operating on behalf of the city of Windhoek and will oversee day-to-day operations, maintenance and implementation of master plans. Gondwana Collection Namibia and PSG Wealth Namibia support this initiative and continue to focus on Avis Dam's success and sustainability as a public open space.
This initiative marks the beginning of a new era at Avis Dam and ensures that it will continue to be a precious natural space for future generations. Working together, we strengthen conservation efforts, enrich the visitor's experience and promote deeper connections between people and nature.
