The GTA has launched 2025 Heritage Month, an annual celebration aimed at introducing Ghana's cultural heritage, creative industry and domestic tourism under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts. The launch, held at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra on March 3, 2025, attracted industry stakeholders, including the Ghana Tourism Federation (Gatov), the Ghana Hotels Association, and tourism leaders. In conjunction with Ghana's Independence Celebration on March 6th, Heritage Month features festivals, food fairs, arts, crafts and music events, highlighting the economic and social values that preserve the national heritage.
The key highlight is the “Black Star Experience.” It is a government-led initiative to deploy Ghana as a gateway to Africa for the global diaspora through curated cultural, historical and creative artistic experiences. Events like The Heritage Caravan, Ghana Music Month, Akwaaba Festival and Taste 68 @ 68 Food Fair will boost domestic tourism and investment. GTA CEO Maame Efua Houadjeto urged businesses to integrate Ghanaian culture into hospitality and tourism services, as well as local textiles, food and music. With an emphasis on heritage and identity, Heritage Month 2025 is set to strengthen Ghana's tourism economy and create new opportunities for growth.
