The Ghana Tourism Agency (GTA) will work with the Ghana Cocoa Commission (Cocobod) and the Cocoa Processing Company (CPC) to promote the consumption of Ghana's chocolate and cocoa-based products in 2025. It's started. The event, held at GTA headquarters in Accra on February 7th, focused on celebrating Ghana's premium cocoa industry and encouraging domestic sponsorship, stating that it would “eat chocolate, stay healthy and make Ghana a reality.” It will be carried out under the theme of “raising.” Introduced as National Chocolate Day in 2005 as National Chocolate Day to reposition Valentine's Day to celebrate the economic and health benefits of cocoa, the initiative has since entailed national activities. It has been expanded to a weekly program.
GTA Deputy CEO Ekow Sampson highlighted the role of the event in supporting domestic tourism and reducing reliance on imported goods. Hospitality venues recommend incorporating chocolate-themed products, but local offices distribute chocolate to hospital pediatric units and engage with the cocoa growing community. Michael Ekow Amoah, assistant director of research and development at Cocobod, emphasized the importance of increasing domestic cocoa consumption to maximize the value of the sector. With exhibitions, street floats and education initiatives planned, National Chocolate Week continues to strengthen its position as Ghana's leading cocoa producer, whilst promoting local and international acclaim for premium chocolate products It's there.
