The UK's Foreign, Federal and Development Office (FCDO) is urging people who are traveling abroad to do some important checks or risk being fined before they leave.
FCDO regularly issues updates on one of the approximately 226 overseas countries and territories, with its latest advice being particularly relevant to those driving to their destination, or planning to drive once they arrive. In a new post on previous Twitter, X, FCDO said Monday:
“Check local regulations. In some countries, you will need air vents, spare glasses, or vignettes for toll roads. Fines are not a fun souvenir.
For example, “You may need to display a white oval British sticker at the rear of your vehicle when driving outside the UK. This depends on the license plate and where you go. Regardless of your license plate, you should display a British sticker that you drive in Spain, Cyprus and Malta.”
Also, if your car has an old GB sticker, you will need to replace it with a UK sticker. You may also need to buy a vignette when driving on toll roads in certain countries such as Bulgaria, Austria, Hungary, Romania, and the Czech Republic.
These can usually be purchased online, but sometimes they can also be purchased at border intersections or gas stations. And in France, Spain and Switzerland, glasses enthusiasts should always have a second pair with them while driving.
