Express Logistics operator FedEx has confirmed an additional 10 ATR 72-600 cargo ship options for delivery between 2027 and 2029.
FedEx is so far the only customer of a variant of a freighter built at the factory of ATR twin-interble props. In 2017, we made a 30 unit commitment to a type that also includes 20 options.
To date, over 20 examples have been distributed and operated by multiple airlines under contract with FedEx.
Boasting a 9.2T payload, the ATR 72-600F is ideal for feeder operation as it can accommodate industry standard containers.
“FedEx's decision to order an additional ATR 72-600F emphasizes confidence in the performance and versatility of the aircraft,” says Alexis Vidal, senior vice president of ATR.
“Our cargo ships are a key component of the ATR family and offer greater advantages over traditional passenger-to-bringer conversions.”
The ATR counted 10 aircraft in total in 2024, which was attributed to private customers.
