A new study by holiday rental platform Holidu analyzed data from World Weather Online to see if European cities gain the most sunlight per month. For monthly sunshine, the top of the list of all cities in Spain and Europe is Cartagena, located on the country's southeast coast. Data revealed that Cartagena gains an average of 283 hours of sun on the moon.
Meanwhile, the city is also known for its heat. Temperatures in Cartagena can reach 29C in July and August. Research shows that at the peak of the tourist season, rain falls in eight days a month.
Spain has created the top five lists of Europe's most European cities. This is no surprise to the vast number of British people flocking to the Mediterranean country for summer holidays. Other countries in the top 20 list include Italy, France and Greece.
Second on the list is Alicante, which has an average of 279.6 days of sunlight per month. Following on, Malaga was third, with an average of 279.3 days of sunlight.
