European countries have beautiful, inexpensive, and mostly touristy seaside cities. In fact, it is even said to be a “secret” holiday destination.
Constanta is a port city in Romania's Dobrjah Historic Region. Founded around 600 BC, it is the oldest city in Europe and the oldest of the oldest regions in the region.
It is a place rich in history, occupied by various groups over the centuries, with influences from the Rome, Bulgaria, Byzantine and Ottoman Empires. There is also a stunning art nouveau style casino overlooking the ocean, a photo spot for many visitors.
But it's Mamaia Beach that draws visitors to Constantina. Mamaia Beach is five miles of white sand, which is actually quite rare in the area.
What's even better for holiday makers is how cheap it is. The local beer in the draft costs around £1.50, while the meal costs around £7 per person.
There are plenty of beach bars and restaurants spread throughout Mamaia, so there are plenty of options to eat and drink. The nightlife also has many clubs and is popular.
Popular with tourists and locals, Constantica's beach season runs from mid-June to mid-September to mid-September.
Summer temperatures are on average 24C comfortable, far more enjoyable than the roasting conditions available in Spain and other Mediterranean countries.

Constanta offers a variety of accommodation options to suit your budget, including beachside hotels, air bumbu, hostels and holidays.
Flights from the UK to Bucharest take 3-5 hours, with multiple flights per day from many major airports. Even during the summer, return fares can start at just £66, but off-peak prices are even lower.
From there, the train from Bucharest to Constaná takes just 2 hours, and a one-way ticket costs around 62 leighs or £11. There is a bus to and from the Romanian capital. Alternatively, you can hire a car and drive between two people in about three hours.
The city welcomes 1.7 million tourists every year and has become a tourist hotspot in Romania.
