This pretty city in the Netherlands is something people miss, but it's a top choice for this summer's holiday. Global search for “Easter Holiday” has increased by 244% over the past three months.
For families looking for stress-free vacations and minimal hassle, ESIM provider Nomad has found “Dupée destinations” that predict the most overcrowded family vacations for Easter and offer similar views and experiences for those seeking relaxation. One swap that it suggests is to visit Utrecht instead of Amsterdam – the cities are very similar, but there are fewer tourists in Utrecht. The city is roughly the same as the Dutch capital. It has a beautiful canal and a friendly neighbourhood atmosphere without some of the busier major cities aspects found in Amsterdam.
If you are planning to visit the area, look at the canal. A Tripadvisor visitor said, “The Canal area of Utrecht is a must-see. There are plenty of great restaurants and bars to enjoy. It's a very attractive place for both day and night. Highly recommended.”
The other is written. “Like all Dutch cities and towns, canals are magnets. The canal region is one of the most attractive things in Utrecht.
“It's full of hustles, bustling restaurants, cafes, old buildings and lovely bridges decorated with bright flowers. It's a lot of fun walking along the canal maze!”
You can either take the train from Amsterdam to Utrecht in the car that takes about 45 minutes or take the train that takes about 20 minutes and costs around 7 pounds.
Another visiting spot is Dom Tower, which is quickly prominent in the area. The 14th century tower is the heart of the old town.
At 112 meters, it remains the tallest church tower in the Netherlands. Domtoren is open all year round and the views of Utrecht are worth seeing every season.
A Tripadvisor visitor said: “We didn't have time to climb the steps to see the view, but we were lucky enough to be able to visit right after the construction renovation was completed.
“Therefore, we were able to see the beautiful tower and walk the tour as it was now open. Utrecht is a beautiful place to visit and enjoyed staying here instead of Amsterdam.”
If you want to visit European cities on weekends, Utrecht could be a great place to enjoy a peaceful yet idyllic break.
