In response to rising demand, Etihad will move to double its daily Nairobi services within a year after launch.
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – Etihad Airlines, a national airline in the United Arab Emirates, is expanding its African network significantly with new destinations and increased frequency, strengthening its commitment to increasing demand for air connections on the continent. Etihad has announced that it will double flights to Nairobi in Kenya, increasing its service for 14 weeks from December 15th, 2025. It announces that it has been less than a year since the airline resumed flights to the Kenya capital and emphasized the strength of the route.
Alik De, Etihad's chief income and commercial officer, commented: “Etihad has long recognized the need to strengthen our presence in Africa. Over the past year we have focused on a holistic approach to increasing our presence by expanding our fleet, increasing frequency and forming important partnerships.”
“We are encouraged by positive early results and announce the expansion of Nairobi Services to 14 flights per week and an increase in Seychelles services to six flights per week, thanks to our partnership with Air Seychelles.
“Along with its groundbreaking relationship with Air Seychelles and Ethiopian Airlines, these strategic partnerships form a key foundation as they add four new direct routes from Abu Dhabi to Africa this year, highlighting our growing commitment to serving the dynamic continent.”

The expansion follows the recent addition of Addis Ababa, set up to transform connectivity between Africa, the Middle East and Asia, following the signing of a groundbreaking joint venture agreement with Ethiopian Airlines. The strategic partnership also includes codeshare arrangements, providing further support for both passenger travel and freight services.
Additionally, Etihad and Air Seychelles will cooperate on six flights a week between Abu Dhabi and Mahe from May 2025. Etihad customers also have access to exotic destinations such as Praslin and Mauritius via Air Seychelles. Under the codeshare agreement, travelers look forward to a fantastic flight experience using the same baggage allowance, as well as free food and drinks, and members of Etihad Guest earn miles on each flight.
These strategic partnerships will strengthen Etihad's commitment to Africa and provide a new level of connectivity across key African markets.
By December 2025, Etihad will significantly expand its African footprint with additional flights between Abu Dhabi and the continent compared to December 2024.
