The Ethiopian Cultural Group, 70 performers, is set to depart for China on July 20th, marking the first leg of a global tour aimed at promoting Ethiopia's rich cultural heritage. Supported by the Ministry of Communication Services and Culture and Sports, the initiative will showcase traditional arts, music, dance, outfits, cooking and crafts in multiple countries with the aim of strengthening Ethiopia's cultural diplomacy and international profile.
Officials say the tours are designed to deepen relationships between people, while supporting efforts to attract tourism and investment. Minister of State Tesfahun Gobezay highlighted the role of art in shaping the image of the people, and Minister of Culture and Sports, Minister of State Nebiyou Baye pointed out this as an important opportunity to share Ethiopia's diverse heritage with new world audiences. The tour, sponsored by Shakura Productions, has been prepared for four months and includes interactive cultural exhibits and performances that reflect Ethiopia's ethnic diversity and creative traditions.
