Ethiopian Airlines has launched a new passenger service that connects Addis Ababa with Porto, Portugal, further strengthening its Africa-European network. Released on July 2, 2025, the service runs four times a week through Madrid using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The route extends the airline's growing international footprint and supports an increase in trade and tourism relations between the two regions.
Porto, the second largest city in Portugal and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers strong possibilities for both business and leisure travel. The new route highlights the commitment of Ethiopian airlines to global connectivity following Skytrax's recent recognition as the “best airline in Africa” for the eighth consecutive year. The expansion also supports a wide range of efforts to improve intercontinental access through efficient, large-capacity aviation links from Africa.
