Ethiopian Airlines has launched its first direct passenger service to Hanoi, Vietnam, which operates four times a week from Addis Ababa. The new route, which began on July 10, 2025, strengthens air connections between Africa and Southeast Asia, marking the 20th passenger destination for Asian airlines.
Mesfin Tasew, group chief executive of Ethiopian Airlines, said, “We are truly delighted to launch passenger services to Hanoi, a city of great cultural and economic significance. This new route not only supports our vision to connect Africa to the world, but also serves as a bridge to complement the agreement between Africa and South. It will promote the growth of tourism, business and people-to-people connections between Vietnam and the African continent.”
Ethiopian Airlines is also investigating future cooperation with Vietnam Airlines to further strengthen its network reach. With a fleet of over 140 aircraft and Star Alliance memberships, the carrier continues its strategy of expanding intercontinental connections from Africa.
