EasyJet has announced snail and garlic infused ice cream, but do you have enough courage to give it a try? The escargot-inspired creation comes with crunchy sugar to mimic the shell, taking cues from the Parisian bistros. This is one of five bold flavours created to celebrate the airline and EasyJet Holidays' new London South End base, each scoop is inspired by a destination that can be sprayed right now.
Other adventurous options include “spicy tagines,” “spicy tagines” packed with apricots and Moroccan spices, transported straight into souques and “casio et pepe,” a bold blend of lemon zest, parmesan, cracked black peppers, and a bold blend of Pisa-inspired black peppers. It also blends fruity sangria flavors and rich chocolate, inspired by Spanish hot spots such as Alicante, Malaga and Tenerife.
Finishing out the Willy Wonka-esque collection is “Pastel de Nata,” which leads Portuguese iconic custard tarts into smooth, luxurious ice cream. Holiday makers departing from the airport are given the opportunity to try out limited edition ice cream.
“We're looking forward to seeing you in the process of doing things like this,” said Garry Wilson, CEO of EasyJet Holidays. “Southend is synonymous with Ice-Cream, and is a better way to celebrate our latest base than to represent the joy of a holiday for many, rather than offering customers a literal taste of their next trip.
“We now have flights and package holidays available with 20 destinations from London Southend, which not only allows us to serve more customers, provide value and more choice, but also supports the UK's critical connectivity and jobs towards the biggest summer ever.”
The new London Southend base currently has three EasyJet A320neo aircraft, supporting approximately 1,200 jobs, including 140 direct jobs for pilots and cabin crews.
The airline offers 122 flights per week on 20 routes from Southend to leisure destinations in Europe and North Africa. This is an increase of 133% compared to last summer.
The new base offers over 330,000 seats for holiday customers to choose from when planning their summer vacation.
London Southend is EasyJet's 10th UK base open as airlines respond to increased consumer demand for flights and package holidays following the launch of Birmingham International Airport last year.
Airlines and Holiday companies are anticipating the biggest summer season of all time, with seven more aircraft participating in the British fleet of Easejet from Edinburgh, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham and London South End.
The aim is to provide an additional 500,000 seats this summer across the airline network spanning Europe and North Africa.
