British Buldge Airline EasyJet has launched eight new international ties between Spain and the UK airport, serving 15.8 million impressive passengers last year and announced it will become one of the UK's top transport hubs. The new route opens Malaga's popular holiday hotspot on Spain's southern coast, twice a week at Scotland's Edinburgh Airport.
Starting October 28th, the Malaga Edinburgh Route will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Budget airlines already have many connections to the UK and its major airports, with flights to Bristol, Leeds, Gatwick, Luton, Manchester, Newcastle, Southend, Birmingham, Liverpool, Belfast and Glasgow. In the wider region, the EasyJet already flies from Malaga to Amsterdam, Athens, Berlin, Nice, Zurich, and even Marrakech and Labat in Morocco.
The airline also said it will offer two new flights per week from Amelia Airport to Liverpool, with six more flights added from Barcelona and Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands starting in October.
These new routes will add more than 110,000 seats, and travelers will “discover new European cities directly with comfortable and affordable flights,” a spokesperson for EasyJet said.
The news comes as the airline announced five new flight destinations at the end of last month, and 22 new routes from 12 UK airports. People traveling from Manchester Airport will be able to ride flights to Izmir, Turkey, Kalamata, Greece, Larnaca, Cyprus, Madrid, Spain, and Rennes, France. The airline's first flight from Manchester Airport to Izmir and Madrid already flew on Monday, June 23rd.
Elsewhere, passengers on planes heading abroad using EasyJet this summer, or other airlines such as Ryanair, TUI, and Jet2, have been warned about the new four-hour rule ahead of holidays following the EU decision. The time frame for claiming compensation for delayed flights increased after 12 years of discussion.
It is now agreed that claims for short-distance flights can only be made after a delay of more than four hours. This number used to be three hours. Meanwhile, long-distance travelers must be delayed at least six hours before they can provide relief. The cause of delays also affects the amount of compensation people receive.
Meanwhile, these airlines also introduced new rules for passenger cabin bags this summer. That means that carry-on baggage for your flight is guaranteed free of charge if it fits in a 40x30x15cm space. This means that it can fit under the front seat as a personal item.
