Dar es Salaam. The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has entered into force on March 20, 2025, officially exempt visa requirements for Tanzania citizens.
The announcement was made through the East African cooperation with Tanzania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The decision follows DRC's admission into the East African Community (EAC) in July 2022, further consolidating the country into regional blocs.

On September 2, 2023, Tanzania had already eliminated visa fees for Congolese travelers and anticipated mutual agreement.
The latest decision from the DRC allows Tanzanians to travel to the DRC without the need for a visa.
With the removal of visa restrictions, Tanzanians will be able to visit the DRC for business, tourism and other purposes from March 2025.
The changes are expected to facilitate travel, reduce costs and enhance economic interactions between the two countries.
Given the strong commercial links between Tanzania and the DRC, trade, investment and cross-border business activities could thrive.
Furthermore, the decision is consistent with broader regional integration efforts within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA) aimed at facilitating travel and trade restrictions across the continent.
This visa-free arrangement contributes to the comprehensive goal of strengthening regional cooperation within East Africa and promoting economic growth, emphasizing deepening bilateral relations between Tanzania and the DRC.
