There is a risk that a huge rock on the popular beach in Devon may bring risks to tourists and bathers.
TORQUAY COUNCIL has been reportedly refused to take Paignton's call to remove many rocks in Devon's Paignton Sands.
This is a part of the sea defense initiative, followed by a proposal of 14 million pounds approved in June last year to renew the coast of Paignton.
The beach, famous for its unique pink sand, attracts thousands of visitors and bathers every year.
Resident Richard Casco said:
“This will definitely bring a risk to the bather.
“In fact, rock is a rock armor, and the steel sheet is loaded on the original water resistance that comes to the surface, and can be widespread throughout the year.
“They will continue to present the dangers that are unacceptable to the bathers. Especially in the steps that are immediately connected to them.”
He added as follows:
A spokeswoman for Torbay Council states: “Torbay Council knows the rocks of Paignton Beach. These rocks are natural layers and are usually covered with sand.
“However, due to recent bad weather, Paignton Beach terrain has changed slightly, revealing many of these rocks.
“Rocks play an important role in the natural ecosystem of the beach by providing habitat to various marine organisms.
“We believe that educating the inhabitants and encouraging their personal precautions is a more sustainable approach than deleting them.
“Torbay Council highly appreciates concerns raised by Paignton's actions.
“The council is equally committed to ensuring their safety and fun while maintaining the beauty and ecological importance of their nature.
The seaside conversion includes a new seat terrace, a relocated shelter, kiosk, cafe, and a new entrance for South Green for vehicle access.
The purpose of this project is to improve flood protection on the coast and protect more than 350 real estate from the rise in the sea level.
