Cyprus holidaymakers captured the moment when a relaxing holiday in the sun turned into a horrifying thing as they stared from a balcony from an island in the eastern Mediterranean.
With tensions rising in the Middle East, British Tiktok user Sapphire caught the moment he witnessed a series of Iranian missiles illuminating the night sky. “You can see this,” she wrote the caption along with the clip.
Sitting by the hotel's swimming pool, she added a “POV” (point of view).
In a similar video, Belgian national Filipe de Almeida joined the same platform to share his perspective after being caught up in surprise. “The way I instantly learned what this was, my heart felt so heavy when I saw this,” he said.
And, almost like sapphire, he continued: Certainly, Panning has his camera on top of his pool, so Philippe chose over a dozen red dots of flames in the distance moving towards Israel in a retaliatory attack.
Writing in response to Sapphire, one Tiktok user said, “I didn't think people were actually afraid of going from one country to another.”
“It was so scary,” replied Sapphire. “I'm thinking about everyone who has lost a loved one.”
Second confession: “This could have broken my heart and seen it,” Sapphire agreed: “It broke mine, I hate seeing all this happening.”
A third asked Sapphire for advice on their travels. She explained: “I'm not worried at all! The flight is normal and we've been having a really lovely week here. But sadly, you can see it in the distance.”
Felipe also mentioned the fear of flying to the island when he told his people: “If you're worried about flights, that's safe too. Flights on crossing in that area will be cancelled, so the biggest flight will be cancelled if you need to cross those countries.”
Felipe also tackled the fears about flying to the island when he told those involved.
He added: “I'll be back next month. I'm safe here. But if you're coming from a place where you need to cross a war country, your flight will probably be cancelled.
“The flights between these countries are the only countries affected, and they issued a warning that they stopped the flight. Flights from Cyprus and flights to Cyprus are fine.”
On Wednesday (June 18th), Iran's supreme leader says his country will show Israel “no mercy” after Donald Trump demanded Tehran's “unconditional surrender.” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that his country must give a “strong response” as both Israel and Iran exchanged fires overnight and the conflict entered the sixth day.
As of June 18, the UK government's travel advice on Cyrpus state said, “it could quickly escalate continued hostilities between the region and Israel and Iran, pose security risks for the wider region.”
