The stunning Nordic fjord, which inspired Disney, was named one of the best places in Europe. Nærøyfjord is located in Bestland County in southern Norway. The 11-mile fjord is a large sognefjord branch, only 500 meters wide in some parts.
Along with Sweden's Stockholm Archipelago, Scottish rum and Latvian Cape Kolca, it was included in the National Geographic list of seven best locations for wild camping in Europe. The magazine states: “You will never find a more spectacular place for camping than this. Norway's right to roam and its generous camp rules suggest a landscape full of promise.
The Naroydarsurvi River flows down the valley into the fjords of the village of Gudvangen. Both the village of Bacca and the church of Bacca are located on the west bank of the fjord.
The fjord is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and, together with Geirangerfjord, is rated by the National Geographic Society as the world's number one natural heritage site.
The Nærøyfjord was also used as an inspiration for Arendelle, featuring Disney's “frozen,” steep mountain slopes, 1,800 meters tall and wild waterfalls.
There are many untouched wild areas and small farms surrounding the Nyroyfjord. The visible roads do not link farms or small villages, but show the important lifelines and travel routes that fjords have provided in the past.
There is a great chance that you will experience the Nearroyfjord near the water. You can also go on a tourist boat or ferry, rib boat safari or kayak.
You will have two options to take the train from Bergen to Vos, then a bus to Gudvangen. A canoe is used to paddle up to the pitch. Alternatively, take the ferry to Dildal and explore from there on foot.
