Cruise enthusiasts share savvy packaging tips to make sea voyages more comfortable and efficient. Taking it to the popular cruising forum “Cruise Critics”, the holidaymaker shared golden tips for first time cruisers.
Forum members asked for advice on a 14-day Caribbean cruise with the Princess, “I'm flying the day before my 14-day cruise to the Caribbean. I've never cruised long ago. I've always not packed only carry-on cars, but this is impossible for this trip.
In replying to fellow forum members, another cruise critic fan suggested that downpacking over two weeks of long trips could be easily handled.
Sounds strange, but they suggested that even if you set out on a trip of over 20 days, you don't need to pack some options: pool wear, field trip outfits, and formal attire.
Under the alias “Dock B,” they write: “You're in the Princess, so pack it like a seven-day cruise. At least what we do on a long Princess cruise.”
The cruiser explained that Princess Cruise is offering a laundromat for passengers.
According to a well-versed holiday maker, anyone who wants to do laundry on board can easily incorporate it into their daily activities.
Laundry is most often done in the evening when the boat is on portside, as few people are on board. The cruiser stated: “We get snacks from the buffet, get dressed in the washing machine, come back, start one of the free movies and watch until it's time to move clothes to the dryer.”
Others suggested relaxing on the balcony while the laundry was on.
While there is usually a cost to wash and dry the laundry, fellow cruise critics members suggested that passengers “use medallions to purchase supplies and tokens needed to use the machine.”
Another pilgrim member revealed that efficient packaging allows almost a month of clothing to fit in just two carry-on bags.
Users detailed their experience with “CrystalSpin.” “We had a 26-day Atlantic and Mediterranean (plus travel days) with two carry-ons and two knapsacks (for two people).
“If you use laundry on a ship, you pack it for seven days, but send your first luggage or bag on the morning of the fifth or sixth, then again on the 10th.
Hand washing is an easy alternative for those who want to avoid the laundry room. Swimwear, socks and shirts can be easily cleaned with warm water in the cabin sink. Be sure to bring your own laundry detergent.
