In honor of Nelson Mandela's heritage of donations and community uplifting, City Lodge Hotel celebrated Mandela's Day on July 18th to commemorate a series of meaningful initiatives at the hotel. Here we highlight just a handful of the activations that have occurred.
The team at City Lodge Hotel Johannesburg Airport spent the day at Dzulani Children's Care Center in Vosloorus, where they refreshed and repaired the property. The center has 30 children and provides important spaces for safety, dignity and belonging, ranging from 2 to 18 years old. The team's efforts have helped create a more comfortable and comfortable environment for the children and the staff who care for them.
City Lodge Hotel or Tambo International Airport has donated food, towels and soap to children's homes in Johannesburg as part of their continued investment in our country and the future of youth. Three hotels in Waterfall City, north of Johannesburg (Courtyard Hotel, City Lodge Hotel and Town Lodge) worked together to provide delicious meals to 160 future leaders and teams at New Jerusalem Children's Home in Midland. They were rewarded with warm welcome, smiles and special thanks songs from the little ones.
At Gqeberha, local clusters of five hotels representing all four brands – Courtyard Hotel, City Lodge Hotel, Town Lodge and Road Lodge, took part in two impactful projects. Staff participated in the 4th Madiba Day Beach Cleanup in Summers Strand and worked with other hotels and community members to maintain the natural beauty of the area. They also volunteered in the soup kitchen run by Uviwe Child and Youth Services (formerly Childline) in collaboration with Bay FM. Our hotel prepared and served healthy and hearty soup while the Bay FM team was reading the stories to the kids. A live interview was conducted, and initiative representatives spoke about the value of partnerships in creating real change.
Umlangaridge, City Lodge Hotel, visited the Edith Benson Children's home, loaded with delicious treats to ruin the kids. The Umlanga team at Town Lodge spent Mandela's Day and hosted a fantastic race with the Dream Foundation and partner Reach. Together, they brightened the spirits and created memories to continue the lives of these children facing life-threatening illnesses.
Even further away, the team at the City Lodge Hotel Maputo in Mozambique are honored to visit Geraldemavaran Hospital in Maputo, Maputo. Together, they embraced the spirit of Madiba's service and unity and made a meaningful impact on the community.
