The strategic data partnership aims to strengthen the analytical framework, be more inclusive for the African air transport market and to support growth across the African sector.

London, May 14, 2025 – Cirium, the world's most trusted aviation source, has announced a strategic data partnership with the African Aviation Association (AFRAA), the leading industry association for African Aviation. The partnership aims to strengthen the analytical framework, be more inclusive for the African air transport market and support the growth of the entire African sector.

This collaboration is a crucial time for aviation in Africa. According to Cirium data, international passenger flights to Africa increased 27% year-on-year in 2024, indicating a significant recovery and expansion of regional ties. With access to Cirium's scheduling, fleets, and market intelligence tools, AFRAA enriches data reporting, better support its member airlines and drives sustainable growth across the continent.

“International transport between Africa and Africa has experienced rapid growth and is bringing great opportunities for airlines on the continent,” said Jeremy Bowen, CEO of CIRIUM. “By leveraging Cirium's world-class data and AFRAA's industry leadership, we enable airlines to make smarter, faster, and more sustainable decisions that will shape the future of aviation in Africa.”

Cirium's powerful analytics solutions, including DIIO SRS Analyzer for Strategic Scheduling Insights, Fleet Analyzer for Fleet Planning and Sustainability Initiatives, and Cirium Dashboard for Real-time Market Intelligence and Expert Analysis, enhance AFRAA's industry analysis and reporting. These insights allow airlines to operate more efficiently, respond quickly to market changes, and unlock new revenue opportunities.

In announcing the partnership, Abderahmane Berthé, Executive Director of AFRAA, said:

“The use of data-driven tools is critical to providing intelligence to stakeholders in airlines, airports, governments, regulators and other industry sectors for decision-making to maintain and boost aviation in Africa. Data is the basis of decision-making.

The partnership, in line with AFRAA's 2025 strategy, will improve connectivity, reduce operational costs, increase sustainability and drive digital transformation across the African aviation sector.
