China Airlines has promoted President Khao Singhan as the new chairman after the death of its former chairman.
To take over from Khao as the airline's new president is Chen Hanmin, chairman of China Airlines' low-cost unit Taigawan.
Kao and Chen took on the post on March 10th after the board meeting. The change in leadership follows the death of former chairman Hsieh Su-Chien in January.
Kao was a veteran of the airline for nearly 40 years and joined in 1986 as a cabin attendant and became an airline cadet pilot. He took the helm of the airline in 2021 amid the Covid-19 pandemic with a focus on “optimizing overall operations and improving competitiveness.”
In January this year, Kao was appointed in January after Hsieh's death.
Regarding Chen, he joined China Airlines' board of directors in 2016 and is “fully familiar with the group's operations and airline governance,” Carrier said. He was appointed Chair of Taigawan in 2020, and it is believed that a low-cost career will “become a successful brand with outstanding results in 2023 and 2024.”
