Cathay Pacific will increase flights between Hong Kong and Johannesburg to daily service starting July 1, 2025. The airline currently operates five return flights per week on the route, with the expansion being in response to increased travel demand between South Africa and Asia. The route will continue to be offered by Airbus A350-900 aircraft with business, premium economy and economy class, providing greater flexibility for both leisure and business travelers.
Enhanced schedules will increase cargo capacity on routes and allow airlines to meet growing demand for explicit cargo, including fresh food and mail. Seamlessly connecting to destinations such as mainland China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand through Hong Kong hubs, the move strengthens air links to Johannesburg's major Asian and Australian markets. The update comes as part of Cathay Pacific's $100 billion global investment in storeys, lounges and digital upgrades.
