Cathay Pacific has begun operations in Dallas, Fort Worth, the eighth city of the North American network.
One World Carrier drives four flights a week between Hong Kong and Dallas on the Airbus A350-1000.
“This new route will further enhance the global connectivity of Home Hub Hong Kong while also providing greater choice and convenience to its customers,” Cathay said.
The flight to the Texas city will also be launched by Taiwanese operator Eva Air, who runs three flights from Taipei in October.
According to Eva Air, the route (the airline's 9th North American Point) will operate on the Boeing 777-300ers. The Star Alliance Carrier will fly from Taipei to Houston, the capital of Texas.
Cathay and Eva Airlines currently operate freighter services in Dallas. According to EVA President Clay Sun, the airline has decided to begin operating passengers after observing “strong economic and population growth” at the “Texas Economic and Commercial Center.”
