The City of Cape Town has announced a new marketing initiative aimed at visitors staying in hotels and guesthouses, using coat hanger cards to promote both tourism and investment opportunities. The campaign, launched at Hotels and Hospitality Expo Africa, uses the QR code on the card to link directly to Cape Town's destination portal “This is Cape Town” and its business platform “Invest Cape Town.”

The campaign is being deployed in collaboration with the Federal Hospitality Association of South Africa (FEDHASA) to ensure wide distribution across Metro hospitality venues. It forms part of the city's five-point plan to grow the visitor economy. This includes expanding air connections, increasing cruise traffic and promoting diverse tourism experiences. Cape Town's tourism momentum continues, with hotel occupancy expected to reach 64.6% (beyond the national average in April, with 36 business events secured for the coming years to donate R745 million to the local economy.
