Cape Town concluded its most successful cruise season to date, and welcomed 83 cruise ship visits in 2024/25. March stands out as a peak month, with 22 ships arriving, and the season officially ended on June 29th with the Crown Prince's departure. The port of Mossel Bay also contributed to the presence of the Western Cape's growing cruises, recording 15 calls during the same period.
According to Wesgro, the sector contributed an estimated R1.32 billion to the local economy and supported 2,000 jobs during the 2023/24 season. Passenger and crew throughput at Cape Town Cruise Terminal rose 16% year-on-year, indicating an increase in demand. In particular, Queen Anne's visit in April continued her prominent involvement with the city of Canard. With its infrastructure in place and a strong forward booking pipeline, Cape Town has established itself as a key African hub for global cruise itineraries.
