For many, when choosing a spot for a promising beach day, an eco-friendly coast is important and safe. Luckily, the 2025 Blue Flag Beach list has been released. Blue Flag Beach is an internationally recognized award given to beaches that meet high standards of environmental quality, safety and amenities. It means a clean, safe and environmentally managed beach.
As the Canary Islands continue to be the top tourist destination, we'll reveal below a complete list of beaches that the archipelago was awarded this year. However, the islands have been awarded 47 blue flags this year, nine fewer than the 56 received in 2023, making it the region of Spain at its biggest drop. Overall, Spain has impressive 749 beaches.
Gran Canaria stands out in this year's rating, claiming 14 of the 47 Canary beaches in the archipelago. These include Las Nieves of Agete and Sardina of Gardar, and Joya del Pozo, La Garrita, Melenara and Sarineta of Terde.
Crossing the Tenerife sea, the island has won 11 beaches on the list. This includes Las Vistas and Los Cristianos of Alona and Erdek (south), and Tovisca of Adeje.
Fuerteventura has 10 beaches, La Palma has 6 beaches, and Lanzarote has only two. El Hiero was awarded Blue Flag Status for Pina del Hiero's La Resinga and Valverde's Timidirake, with Lagomera having Santiago in Aragello.
The Balearic Islands, another popular Spanish archipelago, have received prestigious awards for 32 beaches.
With over 600 Blue Flag Beaches nationwide, Spain is a great destination for beach enthusiasts looking for an eco-friendly coastline.
