Canary Island Sunbed War hits a new level as tourists in the Teneri Fe reserve space on the floor | Travel News | Travel

Every year, new horror stories emerge from unruly tourists who take even more aggressive action to ensure the best place in the pool. In the latest chapter of Sunbed Wars, tourists in Tenerife are caught by Tiktok trying to reserve their spots, even before the beds are released that day.

Holiday makers were seen placing their personal belongings directly on the floor in front of the hotel pool in the cracks at dawn to “reserve space.” In a scene called “surre” by fellow tourists, guests from several popular resorts were found with towels, flip-flops and beach bags on the ground before staff began putting out loungers. The bold move has caused rage among holiday makers, branding many brands as “selfish”, “silly”, “last straws”, and not so enthusiastic about the best places.

“It's like a military operation out there,” wrote one social media user. “People literally secure tiles.”

Some hotels have been forced to tighten rules prohibiting guests from booking sunbeds that are not used. Others are said to be fully considering the policy, according to Canarian Weekly.

Even etiquette experts place emphasis on war. “There's nothing wrong with wanting a good place,” the person said. “But claiming empty floor space is a step further.”

Popular Travel Tiktoker @getLostwebsite recently shared an eyebrow-raising clip showing tourists running to snare sunbeds from the day early. This video shows the hotel's quiet pool area, but within seconds people are running to the sunbeds.

“Look at them!” Tiktoker wrote in the caption. “Sunbed tourists compete.”

It didn't take long for comments to start pouring in.

“Please tell me where this is. I know where it's not going.” Another “Sad” and another added what called “idiots” people running on the sunbed.
