Bucharest, Romania, is quietly becoming one of Europe's best health and welfare destinations, offering a spa experience that is much more affordable than in the UK. Not only does it boast boats of historical and cultural importance, but it also has warm, dry weather in the summer, and it has everything that wellness gurus wants.
A new study conducted by Wizz Air comparing spa costs in Europe with London's spa costs shows that Bucharest ranks as one of the cheapest cities in relaxing hideouts. Return flights from London Luton Airport and Bucharest can start just as cheap as £54. Note that this depends on the date and availability of the trip.
A Wizz Air spokesman said, “The return flight with Whiz Air from London Luton Airport and Bucharest – Henri Coantoura Port – can start at £54* depending on travel dates and availability. With the collection of signs, you can save around £514 compared to staying in Savoy by taking a train in London.
“As a hub of 127 spas (0.69 per 10,000 tourists), visitors make the most of their relaxing vacation with rejuvenating treatments, roaming and sightseeing in the quiet Simigiu gardens in the historic old town.”
This makes Bucharest an ideal destination for spans looking for a nice break in interesting European cities to charge batteries at an affordable price. But what's so interesting?
Only after Berlin, Madrid and Rome is the fourth largest city in the European Union by population within the city's limits. Meanwhile, the iconic and historic palace of Parliament is the largest building in the world with administrative functions. And we all know how much the British people love good drinks – Bellaria, the Romanian capital, is one of the largest beer halls in Europe.
A TripAdvisor review wrote: “I visited Bucharest for two weeks over the past two months this year. I didn't know much about it before these trips, but I say it's certainly underrated.
“I was able to wander all day long by seeing small streets, scattered shops and stunning churches. I covered many towns in one day. Many churches are free to visit. There is a soccer museum for those who love sports.
