The UK is currently enjoying a blissful, warm week with temperatures above 20c, but for those who flew to Spain to ensure the sun, reality was unexpectedly the exact opposite.
The disgruntled vacationers took them to social media to share their disappointment after facing heavy rain in place of the Spanish sun. Among the disappointed tourists is Jody Lauren, who uploaded a video showing the extent of the heavy rain at the resort in Mallorca.
“Don't trust the Mallorca weather app,” she posted awfully along with footage of Tiktok, adding, ironically, “It's okay to enjoy bingo anyway.” Her video contrasted with the harsh reality of the merciless rain that soaks the outdoor pool area with mobile phone weather forecasts.
Beth Sel found herself in a similarly damp situation in Malaga and filmed footage of the relentless rainfall in her hideout. Despite the miserable weather that has ruined her trip, she manages to “it's raining on the holidays, but when I get back home 25 degrees!”
Unfortunately, the forecast shows a continuous weekend of Spain and the Balearic Islands in anticipation of heavy rains and hail. Certain areas withstand orange weather warnings, especially in the northern regions, predicting thunderstorms, and highland areas even face potential snow.
To add humiliation to the injury, one Tiktok user said, “The fiery sunshine here in Birmingham and 21c!” Another contemplation: “Has Balearic turned to England with the weather?” Meanwhile, the third joke: “At least this time I won't get tan!”
In a similar fashion, in response to Beth's unfortunate Spanish holidays, another user shared the experience, saying, “It's terrible in Nerja. I can't see things, it's cold.” The second person declared, “I'm glad I went last week.”
The third reflects, “It's very annoying to have rain on holidays, but good for nature, but bad for you.”
Meanwhile, in a statement shared with X by the Spanish provincial Meteorological Agency, AEMET read on Saturday morning (May 10). “We are expanding warnings to more regions north and east of the peninsula. The showers are locally very strong, with strong winds and ail.
Additionally, AEMET highlighted the severity of the weather with an additional warning, “Orange-level warnings against today's rain and storms in Navalen, Valencia, La Rioja, Casteel Lancia and Aragon.”
On top of that, the agency provided the Canary Islands with rather harsh weekend forecasts.
