This summer, urgent advice was issued to Britons heading to Benidorm about “illegal conduct” that appears to be a beach in a Spanish city.
The issue was highlighted by the holiday maker and Karen Gregory who took him to Tiktok to claim that if he went to Tiktok and fell into a crime, tourists could potentially face a fine. “Don't buy cocktails on the beach,” they urged in a video recorded by Costa Blanca.
The pair continued, sharing footage of a cocktail salesman working on the sand.
“And if you catch them buying them, you can get a fine,” Mark and Karen insisted. Their clip, which has been viewed over 800,000 times, prompted many Brits to respond.
“Not only is it illegal, but how can we guarantee the contents of cocktails on Earth? That could be something!” replied one Tiktok user.
The second insisted: “They are made of dirty water. I actually saw one of these men get caught by the police when I went to Benidorm for a hen last year.”
The third person also claimed that “two years ago I saw them make them in public toilets.” While the fourth Tiktok user recalled, “I even approached one of these people and came to my face while sunbathing, scaring s*** from me. He said, “I have this for free here.”
“They're a**s pain, right?” Mark and Karen replied.
However, despite his persistence on Semen, individuals commented: “They are made out of beachfront pubs. If the pubs don't attract too many customers, staff will walk the beach in 12-hour shifts.
On the contrary, Mark and Karen returned to their response, saying, “They are unfortunately made in cars and alleys. I saw them do that.”
Meanwhile, Michel Baker, who moved to Spain 40 years ago, warns visitors to be on guard. “Theft of phones is Benidorm's No. 1 crime and now it gives a more frightening twist,” she wrote in her own Benidorm Forever Facebook group.
She continued: “I'm generally very positive about Benidorm, but a few people I personally know have told me recently that this happened (I took into consideration the individuals on the streets and no one was drunk).”
“You're approaching an upset young individual who has 'lost' his friend and can't remember where he's staying,” added Michelle. “He vaguely explains where he is thinking it, and you're opening Google Maps on your phone to help him find his way.
“When your phone is unlocked, he snatches it and runs it quickly. With a two-second head start on his side, he immediately passes the phone to a tech-savvy expert before you can respond.
Here is the UK government's advice on alcohol consumption in Benidorm: “It is illegal to drink alcohol on the streets of some parts of Spain. You will be fined on-site. There are strict controls regarding drinking and sexual activity in public places, including beaches.”
The Benidorm City Council (Ayuntamiento de Benidorm) has been invited to comment on the claim.
