British tourists are left with fear that they will “miss the flight” at Spanish popular airports due to the size of the long queue. Various videos have appeared of people waiting to board their plane homes from Malaga Airport, acknowledging that many people have been waiting for a flight to pass has been so long in recent weeks.
One Tiktok user known as Millandnath said that Kew was “mad” at the airport over the weekend and admitted that he wondered whether they would pass on time, just as he showed people their range. They stopped to get their food and he admitted that if they made the “wrong decision” they thought, as the queue looked so long.
In the clip, Nathan admitted that at one point he began to “move faster” but it was still really long. After explaining the situation, he said:
“We started queuing at the last 10am. It's from quarter to one quarter, so we have 20 minutes to spare.” The comments reported that no one knew why the queue was so long, but it seems like people had all sorts of ideas and when a passport check was done.
Some thought that was the influence of Brexit, but others said it could depend on the fact that so many British people visit Spain. Other videos also reveal queues at the airport.
One replied, “I was part of that line yesterday. It also took an hour to check in. I got through it and boarded quickly.”
Another addition: “Well, I think we should talk about not only the Brexit effect, but how it is doing. It's an incredible number of British people who are constantly visiting Malaga compared to other nationalities.”
The third person replied: “I'm here on Sunday now, and the queue is over 250 people. I was walking through it to see what it was for. It's for a passport check, but luckily it was all UK passports. The EU passport side was clear.”
Meanwhile, the fourth commented: “It took me almost two hours on a variety of queues to get through there on Saturday and get on the plane… absolutely ridiculous.”
Someone else said, “That's scary. I walked through that line last week and almost missed my flight.”
Others shared a variety of experiences. Some suggest that it's best not to stop food, while others say that cues can move fairly quickly, although “stressing”;
Another said, “I just got back from Malaga Airport yesterday and the queue wasn't this bad. I wasn't even on the queue for 10 minutes.”
Malaga Airport can experience long queues for a variety of reasons, including high passenger volumes during peak travel season. In the past, it has caused crowds at the airport as it is the main gateway to the Costa del Sol.
Tourists can face long lines at the airport, especially during summer and holidays. In addition to this, if you weren't aware, non-Skengen flights require passport checks for passengers on round-trip journeys to and from the UK (and other non-Schengen countries), which could also contribute to longer queues.
While it is not clear at all why it led to the recently reported queue, Malaga Airport has been asked to comment on the situation that appears to be affecting travelers.
