British Airways has made major changes to its hot drink options on its flight thanks to its new partnership.

The major airlines work with British tea producer Birchall to provide customers with a range of carefully curated teas in the air and on the ground. British Airways offers around 40 million cups of tea each year, and says the new tea provider is “the right choice for customers” and has been qualified for performance in blind flavor testing and British roots and sustainability. Birchall String and Tag Teabags are made entirely from plant-based fibers from solar tea plants.

The airline has begun offering bird al tea on all long-haul flights starting in May. It features a lineup of flavor options including Great Lift English Breakfast, Early Grey, Peppermint, Lemongrass, Ginger and Chamomile.

As of June, this range is currently also available on all short-distance flights in Club Europe (Shorthall Business Class), allowing customers to enjoy tea when traveling around Europe.

Variations of Brew include Great Rift Breakfast Blend, Decaffeinated English Breaking, Earl Gray, Peppermint, Chamomile and Green Tea.

The rollout will be extended further from July, with tea available to customers traveling Euro Traveler (Economy) on a flight from London Heathrow via the airline's Highlife Cafe next month, and British Airways lounges will be offered around the world.

“We're committed to providing a range of services to our customers,” said Calum Laming, British Airways Chief Customer Officer. “Last year, we had over 37 million cups of tea and over 2 million cups in lounges around the world, so choosing a newest tea partner proved to be the right decision.

“We are proud to continue to lead the way in advocating for UK originality. It was also important that our tea not only checks the taste, but also showcase the quality and talent that is present at our UK gateway.”

Daniel Graham, managing director of Birchall Tea, added: “We are extremely proud to supply tea to British Airways, a microcosm of UK quality and service, which is very important to us too.
