Bombardier expands adoption of Siemens Xcelerator for aircraft developers
IT in manufacturing in May 2025

Siemens Digital Industries Software recently announced that Bombardier, aviation global leader, has expanded its adoption of Siemens Xcelerator Portfolio, industry software for aircraft development, focusing on the design, manufacturing and servicing of business jets and professional mission platforms. This streamlines the product engineering process, meeting the challenges of modern aerospace design and pushing the boundaries of innovation.
Bombardier selected Siemens NX software for 3D modeling, simulation and manufacturing during aircraft development, and capital software for electronic/electrical system design. Bombardier has been a user of Siemens TeamCenter software for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) since 2018. This expansion of Siemens Xcelerator allows Bombardier to leverage comprehensive digital twins throughout the full aircraft lifecycle to improve performance and reduce program cycles. Bombardier can replace legacy systems to create seamless, integrated digital threads and leverage TeamCenter as a digital thread backbone to bring together mechanical and electrical designs in a PLM-based collaborative environment.
Bombardier also uses Siemens' Mendix Low-Code platform. The company's first Mendix app improves end-user efficiency with search capabilities and connects external application data to TeamCenter. Siemens Xcelerator solutions improve Bombardier data quality and security, saving internal IT teams time and effort.
“The Bombardier selection of a wide set of software from Siemens Xcelerator Portfolio demonstrates the value we have achieved through the use of the software and the value of a cohesive, comprehensive digital thread to optimize the aircraft development process and drive the delivery of innovation. “We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Bombardier as we explore the future of a sustainable aerospace industry together.”
“We are pleased to work closely with Siemens to enhance and optimize the development process for our digital aircraft,” said Glenn Chapnik, senior director of engineering at Bombardier. “With Siemens Xcelerator Portfolio, you can convert throughput, maximize every part of the manufacturing process, and seamlessly ensure solid pathways for further acceleration and innovation.”
Workforce development cooperation
Bombardier is also working with Siemens to reshape the future of the workforce by working with universities and schools to provide access to Siemens software and developing the skills needed to enter the industry after graduation.
“With Siemens Xcelerator, we offer integrated solutions across the engineering field and downstream users, encouraging consistent process use and leveraging collaboration across the enterprise. Bombardier looks forward to achieving these capabilities,” added Chapnik.
