Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – April 23, 2025 – In a move highlighting its long-term commitment to the African aviation industry, Boeing has officially opened a new management office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This marks the company's second office on the continent and strengthens its strategic efforts to support African airlines and air stakeholders.

The newly launched facility will serve as a regional hub to enhance customer engagement, streamline management operations and drive innovation within Africa's rapidly growing aerospace market. The expansion is also based on Boeing's 75-year presence on the continent, further strengthening its role in shaping the future of African aviation.

The launch event brought together several well-known high-ranking officials and industry leaders, reflecting the strategic importance of development. Some of the attendees:

He is Ethiopian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Director of Ethiopian Civil Aviation Aviation Bureau Mesphine Tasse, Group of Ethiopian Air Aviation Group, Ambassador to Ethiopia, and Dr. Alem Sem, Minister of Transport and Logistics, Federal Republic of Ethiopia.

Boeing's senior regional leadership also took part in the ceremony.

Boeing's Middle East, Africa, Africa and Central Asia Ambesy Itsbarek, Vice President of Boeing Asia Africa, Henok Tefera Scholl of Boeing Africa, Vice President of Boeing Africa, President of Boeing Africa, President of Boeing Gata Aura

In a joint statement, Boeing representatives emphasized their commitment to promoting local partnerships, investing in talent development, and helping modernize aviation infrastructure across the continent. “The aviation sector in Africa holds immeasurable potential and our presence in Addis Ababa will help us improve our customers' services, promote collaboration and contribute to the economic growth of the region,” said Kuljit Ghata-Aura.

Ethiopia is home to one of Africa's most influential airlines, the Ethiopian Airlines, and can be the focus of aviation development in the region. The new office is expected to contribute to a broader ecosystem of aerospace innovation and safety, while promoting close cooperation between Boeing and its African partners.

As Africa's aviation industry continues to expand, Boeing's latest investments show a broader trend for global aerospace companies deepening their regional roots, along with an upward trajectory in the demand and connections of air travel on the continent.
