If you want a gorgeous romantic weekend, Whitby is the perfect place to escape – and now it has one of the best hotels in the whole of the UK, perfect for your stay. Montana Brown of Love Island and her fiance Mark O'Connor Salt Moore were named the Best Beach Hotel by the Times.
The Times wrote: “She transformed a running beach hotel outside of town into a super sexy bolthole with a spectacular, relatively empty beach just a 10-minute walk away. Saltmoore House features 43 chic bedrooms inspired by an impressive coastal setting, with 29 more in the family-friendly beach house on the premises, and Brown now has a spa extension in her vision.”
Celebrity chef Tommy Banks oversees the meal, and local Yorkshire productions have priorities
Apart from the luxurious hotel, Whitby is worth a visit in itself – famous for its fish and chips, and its rich history is home to plenty of exploration in this seaside town.
The charming coastal town in North Yorkshire, England, is located at the mouth of the Escu River and is renowned for its scenic beauty. The town offers dramatic cliffside views of the ocean while you're near North York Moors National Park, but is also known for its stunning golden beaches, winding cobblestone streets and picturesque harbors.
Whitby was also popular among fans of Bram Stoker's Dracula, and was partly inspired by the town. Stalkers incorporate local folklore, including the beaches of the Russian ship Dmitry, and discovered the name “Dracula” in the former public library.
Stalker fans can immerse themselves in the Gothic vibe of Whitby Goth Weekend, which is celebrated twice a year in April and October.
The stool above the town is the ruins of Whitby Abbey, dating back to the 7th century, but a fair warning is not an easy walk.
The monastery is on a cliff, and to reach it you will need to climb a whopping 199 levels to see it close.
