As temperatures skyrocket and sunlight spread, many of us plan our travels and outdoor adventures to make the most of the glorious weather.

Traveling abroad can be exciting, but sometimes you get nervous about your wallet string, especially if you have kids. Luckily, the UK is filled with amazing stay spots that offer unique experiences and days without breaking the bank.

With its pebbled beaches, funky beach huts, quaint seaside villages and Jurassic coastline, it's not difficult to see the charm of this stay spot in Devon.

Sidmouth, a 20-minute tourist attraction, is a lesser-known spot for Budley Slatterton, a UK beach holiday.

The town may be small, but its population is around 7,000, but Budley Salterton's huge beaches and lack of busy crowds give this charming seaside spot a real community atmosphere perfect for family trips.

As the TripAdvisor reviewer said, “Great views, friendly community, always clean and great for the family.”

Meanwhile, another tourist described the place as “great and pristine.”

According to The Times and Sunday Times, Budleigh Salterton beaches are one of the top 10 beaches in the southwest.

Furthermore, the water was rated “great” in gov.uk's Bathing Water Classification 2024. This is perfect for swimming and water sports.

“People often miss a visit to Budley Salterton because it's located between more popular destinations like Exmouth and Sidmouth, which attracts a large crowd on a good day,” said Alex Gwillim, a local expert at Sweetcom Cottage Holiday.

Budleigh Salterton's Pebble Beach stretches for two miles. It's perfect for those who like to walk – and you're bound to see the iconic red sandstone cliffs of the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors also enjoy exploring the small town filled with unique local businesses.

If you're looking for something to do in a beach town, Alex recommends that Adventure Seekers have access to Budley Salterton's excellent water sports.

You can rent a stand-up paddle board or kayak and explore the Jurassic coastline by the sea.

“For those who enjoy a slower pace of life, you can take a walk on the beach, bathe in the sea, or enjoy local cafes and tea rooms,” he added.

Alex also said, “Budley Salterton is the perfect place for nature lovers. Along the beach, you'll head towards the Otter Estuary Nature Reserve, a popular birdwatching spot. There are also easy walking trails with spectacular views of Triathic sandstone cliffs and its fascinating geology.”

Visitors have recently shared clips online for beautiful locations, urging more people to stop by.

If you're looking for a place to stay somewhere, there are plenty of options for accommodation at Cozy Cottages, B&BS and Budleigh Salterton at Hotels. Plus, everything is easily accessible and the beach is in no time.

    How to get there

If you are planning a trip to Budleigh Salterton, the best way to get a VAR is to bypass Exeter on your M5 and take Junction 30 (A376) towards Exmouth.

Continue to A376, Christ St. Mary, and proceed to A3052 towards Sidmouth and Seton. At Newton Poppford, turn right towards B3178 to Budley Salterton.

If you're in town, look for a Main Lime Kiln parking. Train travelers can get the train to Exmouth. From the cities and towns in the north and south, you will need to travel first in Exeter St. David.
