This cute African island is a great place to visit in May when temperatures are rising sharply. Mnemba Island is located just off the northeast coast of Zanzibar. This is a private, idyllic paradise that offers tropical escapes. May is one of the best months to visit, with daytime temperatures averaged at 29C, with fewer tourists than peak season.
Mnemba is known for its beautiful greenery and clear blue waters of the beach. If you're looking for an exhilarating outdoor adventure or a quiet, relaxing holiday, the island offers both.
Zanzibar is part of Tanzania, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises everything but essential travel to some of the countries adjacent to Mozambique. However, Zanzibar is not adjacent to Mozambique.
The island has a wide range of marine biodiversity and is a great place for snorkeling and scuba diving. If you take up any of these activities, you can see the fish, turtles and coral gardens just below the surface.
The best way to arrive on the island is to fly from London in Zanzibar to Amani Calme International Airport. Once you arrive at the airport, you will be travelled over the beautiful scenery and travelled to the boat launch point for an hour and a half.
After this you will need to take a 20-minute boat ride to the island itself.
A TripAdvisor visitor said: “Snorkeling is also decent with colorful fish, starfish, sea urchins, shellfish, anemones and corals.
The person continued: “Munemba will never be disappointed, so it is worth doing. It has amazing colors and a unique corner of paradise on Earth.
Many tourists choose to visit Mnemba as a day trip from Zanzibar. This trip allows visitors to see both parts of Africa and incorporate two completely different landscapes.
