The beautiful European city boasts a rich history, scenic beauty and vibrant culture, and is named “The Dream of the World.”

A new survey by Mattressonline analyzed Air Quality Index (AQI), annual sunlight hours and social media engagement, and determined the ranking of the best cities that wake up through Instagram posts and Google searches related to Sunrises in the 40 most visited cities in 2024. Additionally, Lisbon scored 8.23/10 in the Scenic Sunrise rating of the study. Located along the Tagas River, this one is one of the oldest cities in Western Europe, ahead of London, Paris and Rome.

The origins of the city's history date back to the Phoenicians and Romans, and later influenced by Moor before the Portuguese reconquered it in 1147.

The 1755 earthquake devastated most of the city and led to reconstruction in the Pombalin architectural style, introducing earthquake-resistant designs.

One traveler who went to Lisbon wrote on the TripAdvisor Forum:

Lisbon is famous for its perspectives like the Miraduro da Senjora Monte and the Miraduro de Santa Catalina.

Another interesting place to visit is Belem Tower (Tore de Belem), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and symbolic of Portugal's maritime power.

The famous Tram 28 offers picturesque rides through the city's historic neighborhoods.

The capital enjoys the Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and mild winters.

The best times to visit are spring (March May) and fall (September-November), where there is a comfortable weather and less crowd.

British Airways, EasyJet and Tap Air Portugal (Portuguese flag airline) offer regular flights from the UK to Lisbon for just £67.
