The charming seaside village is crowned the UK's best crown, and is surprisingly good in southern England, known as a popular coastal tourist destination. Which consumer champion? He surveyed almost 5,000 members and found that “holiday makers prefer scarce beaches, gorgeous views, peace and tranquility in Northeast England, Wales and Scotland.
Famous for its scenic beauty, peace and serenity and timeless charm, this small coastal gem has won the title for the fourth year in a row, beating over 120 other British towns and villages in the rankings. Winner: Bambara, a small Northumberland village with a population of about 400 people.
Each coastal town and village ranked in hotel prices, seaside, beaches, tourist attractions, scenery, peace and tranquility, parking, parking, accommodation, money value and received an overall destination score.
According to Watchdog, “Bambara has received a 5-star rating for beaches, seaside, scenery, tourist attractions, peace and tranquility.
“It also scored an outstanding 86% score for the entire destination. Visitors loved the spectacular view of Bambara Castle standing on a rocky outcrop above the sand and wind dunes.”
Bambara is famous for its history, with Bambara Castle sitting 150 feet above the stunning coastline. The castle is known as “England's finest coastal fortress” and was built in the 11th century.
According to the Visiting Bambara, the castle was first purchased by the Lord Armstrong in 1894 and is still owned by the Armstrong family. The castle also serves as a background for the Netflix series The Last Kingdom.
The small village features a stunning, pristine beach with golden sand. “Even at high summers, the water temperature doesn't actually get particularly warm.
“However, in a mild few months of the year, kids enjoy playing with the waves, and the sand is good for building sand castles and playing beach games,” shares the beach guide holiday expert.
The beach received an impressive 4.8 bubble on TripAdvisor. “We visited Bambara Beach along Whitby on our way back south. We have a lovely walk along the coastline and the beach, offering a nice view of the outside of the castle.
Another commented: “Wow. I parked on Winding Road and walked straight to this incredible beach. It's almost no one on the beach.
How were other seaside towns ranked?
The five top-rated seaside towns extend northeasterly to England, Wales and Scotland. Wales has had strong shows overall in three towns: Port Mayrion, St. David and Landudono, securing a top 10 spots.
In particular, some of the more traditional seaside resorts in the UK did not become poor. There were no Cornish towns in the top 15, but other popular destinations such as Blackpool, Clacton, Bognaregis and Southend all rank near the bottom of the list.
Even famous destinations like Bournemouth and Brighton ranked in the middle. However, the worst coastal town is Bangor, Wales, with an overall destination score of 42%.
