Simon Reeve has named his favourite country on earth. There you can find things you don't see “other places on earth.” As one of the adventure travelers on British television, Simon has visited some of the most spectacular and dangerous regions in the world.
In his latest three-part BBC show Scandinavia and Simon Reeve, the brave presenter travels through rugged but picturesque countries across tundra, forests and fjords. But it is Simon's latest adventure, having visited over 130 countries throughout his life, and a phenomenal figure for anyone who has not stepped on the plane until they were “growing and working properly.” Simon said: “I'm very fortunate. I've now gone to over 130 countries and traveled quite extensively, I've admitted you, but almost everything is an adult. You know, I don't come from a “travel” family.
Simon reveals that he has no opportunity to take “fantastic foreign holidays” in his youth, but he believes he has helped him to “be grateful” his role even more.
In fact, he doesn't do an incredible job. It mentions spending time with dolls as a teenager. That means he “very knows” how lucky he is.
Choosing one country from the crowd he visited over the years seems like a no-nonsense feat for the presenter, but it stands out especially when it is necessary to “twist” his arms.
Simon said: “So, I always open my eyes while traveling. I'm always trying to absorb it like a human sponge. And I still love traveling.
Madagascar, the fourth largest island in the world, is known for its extraordinary wildlife. This is a vast array of reptiles, plants and mammals that are not found anywhere else on Earth.
The 144 million acre island off the southeast coast of Africa has a diverse range of habitats, ranging from dense rainforests to deserts, according to WWF.
Simon continued: “Madagascar was surprisingly different and beautiful, and amazing. Obviously, it's off the east coast of Africa. It has a little African. It has a little Asia. But it is very unique.
“You see there what you don't see anywhere else on Earth. You know, you know, a group of cowboys wear giant floppy hats that incorporate huge flocks of buffaloes all over the country.”
According to Simon, another hill can be scaled and greeted by a “huge plain of fantastical cactus.”
He added: “When humans first arrived in Madagascar, there were lemurs the size of gorillas. You know, things evolved in very different and special ways, so that's a place that really surprised me.”
