Budget airline Ryanair has increased its collaboration with travel giant TUI to provide more flights to holiday makers visiting Mallorca.
“We are pleased to announce this partnership with TUI, which will allow TUI customers to book as part of their holiday packages, assuring full price transparency for their Ryanair products.”
He added that TUI customers will receive flight information directly from Ryanair and can access bookings directly via their Myryanair account.
Flights can also be combined with TUI hotel offers both at travel agents and online.
The option to book Ryan Air Flights as part of the TUI Holiday will gradually be introduced over the next few weeks and will cover all tourism-related routes, reported Majorca Daily Bulletin.
David Schelp, CEO of TUI Group, added:
“In the UK, guests will be able to choose from a wider range of flights in the future, in addition to the powerful programmes for flights by TUI airlines.”
Ryanair currently has 16 aircraft based in Palma in the summer, with Mallorca one of Spain's top destinations.
It remains to be seen how the news will be received by the thousands of residents of the largest Balearic Island, who want to see changes in existing tourism models.
Earlier this month, one of the leading protest groups, Menys Turisme, Mes Vida (Tourism, More Life), vowed to bolster their efforts in the summer season next year, accompanied by a campaign against the negative impacts of tourism.
The platform has criticised authorities across the archipelago for “preferring profits over residents” and plans to bolster its actions after seeing the government's new tourism campaign and a “boom of property speculation.”
Behind the huge protests in Parma during last year's holiday season, a staggering 111 groups took part.
Organisers said the protest was “a process of large-scale tourism and a tourism that chokes us, denounces us for poverty and the continued instability of our lives, and irreversibly degrades the island's territory and natural heritage.”
Ryanair recently announced an impressive 72 new routes around Europe for the summer season, including between Edinburgh and Porto.
