BA will begin flying routes to two beautiful Italian cities with fewer tourists than other beloved hotspots in time for summer. The airline offers direct routes from London to Rimini. Rimini will be offering Italians' beloved Roman Beach Resort on the Adriatic coast and Salerno, an ancient port city on the Amalfi coast since May.

The flight to Salerno, known lovingly as “Little Napoli”, departs from London Gatwick, while the flight to Rimini departs from London Heathrow. Despite its nickname, Salerno has far fewer tourists than his popular neighbors on the Amalfi coast, but offers quick connections to the most famous sites in the area, such as Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. The ancient city is ingrained in history, with a cathedral that rules the skyline built on the ruins of a Roman temple with Byzantine bronze doors.

Salerno Costa D'Amalfi airport, which opened only in July last year, is a new addition to Italy's famous coast, offering tourists the opportunity to fly directly to the coastline via Naples.

Rimini is similarly ingrained in history, and was founded in 268 BC by the Romans over 268 years ago in opposition to the background of the Adriatic Sea.

With 9 miles of sandy beaches, visitors can choose to flip over the sand of Italian holiday or explore the old town, which is about 15 minutes' walk inland.

Two thousand years ago, the Tiberius Bridge was a must-see and withstanded the test of carrying Roman legions into World War II tanks.

Flights to Rimini will run until September, giving motorsport fans the opportunity to see the San Marino and Rimini Riviera Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Flights to Salerno take 2 hours and 50 minutes and are open three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays until October 25th.

The Rimini flight takes 2 hours and 15 minutes and will depart three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays until September 27th.
