Addis Ababa, March 19, 2025 (ENA) –Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, chairman of the African Union Commission (AUC), has denounced the indiscriminate car bomb attacks of coronavirus in Mogadishu this morning.
This terrifying sleazy act, staged at the busy intersection of the capital, is another hopeless attempt by Al-Shabaab to undermine the resolve of the Somali people and leadership.
During a press conference on Tuesday, the AUC emphasized that the African Union is in full solidarity with the government and the Somali people working to eliminate the threat of al-Shab.
The growing public support for Somalia's security operations is a testament to the country's collective will to reject extremism and ensure a peaceful future.
The Chairman hopes for a quick recovery to the injured after losing his life in this meaningless act of violence. He called for sustained vigilance, continued regional and international cooperation to defeat terrorism and promote lasting peace and stability in the wider horns of Somalia and Africa.
The African Union's Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (Ousom) remains committed to supporting Somali authorities in efforts to restore security and protect civilians.
According to the statement, the AU remains a steady partner in Somalia's journey to peace, security and development.
