Announcement from the Ministry of Finance
The Tanzania federal government has introduced travel insurance for foreigners entering mainland Tanzania through Chapter 394 through the Insurance Act. Visitors will be required to pay a premium worth US$44 in Tanzanian shillings.
The purpose of this insurance is to cover emergency care for visitors, loss of luggage, rescue services, and repatriation of visitors to their home countries during emergencies while in the country.
The implementation of this insurance for foreigners entering the country will be officially launched once regulations are published in the government official gazette to manage travel insurance. Once this process is complete, the public will be notified.
