The Namibian Arrivals Visa Initiative – Launched on April 1, 2025 – aims to simplify entry for international travelers.
Developed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Immigration, Safety and Security, this new system allows eligible visitors to apply online or upon arrival at designated entry points.
Designed to enhance accessibility, this initiative is expected to streamline tourist travel from countries where Namibia lacks diplomatic expression or interaction in terms of visa exemption (see the list of countries below). The new policy is in line with Namibia's broad efforts to enhance international connections with the tourism industry.
Travelers can apply through the Namibian electronic service portal prior to their arrival to reduce waiting times at the immigration counter. Visa fees are set at 1,600 NAD (approximately US$90) in non-African countries and 1,200 NAD (approximately US$70) for citizens of the African Union. The system is available at major ports of entry, including Hosea Kutako International Airport and Walvis Bay Harbor.
The Namibian Tourism Board hopes that the initiative will encourage more arrivals, strengthen economic growth and strengthen Namibia's position as the largest destination for adventure, culture and wildlife tourism.
