This pretty seaside town is just 17 minutes' walk from its more popular neighbour, Brighton.
Shoreham-by-Sea is a hidden gem on the south coast, a place where you can enjoy the seaside without crowds.
It is a great place to stay and you can still visit Brighton from the area. In other words, you have more to explore while you're away.
With Staycations in the UK continuing to gain popularity, Beachlets travel experts share ways to make the most of your holidays and save money while on vacation at home.
If you're willing to explore beyond the usual hotspots, you can find unique destinations for just a small fraction of the cost of mainstream tourist attractions, but still have its local charm.
“Instead of Brighton's busy coast, try places like Shoreham by Sea in West Sussex. Here you can enjoy the same kind of charm as peace without breaking the bank,” says Beachlett. I recommend Mark Hutchins.
He adds: “The best way to find hidden gems is to grab a map and see the surrounding towns and villages, or nearer to more famous tourist hotspots.
“The rule of thumb is to either draw circles within an hour's drive or commute from a hot spot. That way, you won't be too far if you don't want to travel, but you can benefit from cheap accommodations. Masu.”
The town of West Sussex is known for its peaceful atmosphere and stunning coastal views.
You can also explore the area's natural features, or head to town and stop by some of the cafes and restaurants for a bite.
One place to visit in Shoreham-by-Sea is the Shoreham Harbor Lifeboat Station. One visitor wrote on TripAdvisor: We were allowed to see the crew's room and approached on both lifeboats.
“David was very knowledgeable and all the staff were very welcoming. It's definitely worth a visit.”
Shoreham has a great beach that is also a local nature reserve, and its beaches feature rare plants, including yellow corner poppies, sea kale and curds.
It also has a fantastic promenade over 1km long and dotted with benches, allowing you to sit and enjoy the views at any point on foot.
