Tanzania's Arusha region has experienced significant economic growth over the past four years, strengthened by 3.5 trillion development investments across various sectors. Regional Commissioner Kenan Kihongoshi highlighted the impact of the tourism promotion documentary The Royal Tour as a key driver of renewed interest and fundraising. The main focus is aviation infrastructure, with Arusha and Lake Manjara Airports over 10 billion for expansion and upgrades. In particular, Arusha Airport launched a 24-hour international business this December, responding to the increase in tourist arrivals and reducing pressure on Kilimanjaro International Airport.
The government is also investing in strengthening its tourism products, including the construction of a modern geological museum at Ngorongoro-Lengai Unesco Global Geopark. With support from China, managed by the Ngorongoro Conservation Aday Authority, the project aims to boost science tourism and expand visitor stays. In addition to tourism-focused development, additional funding will support agriculture, health, education and infrastructure projects and help increase local government revenue and per capita income. This advancement positions Arusha as a growing hub on Tanzania's northern tourism circuit.
