Allegiant Air Chief Operating Officer Keny Wilper has stepped down and will be temporarily replaced by longtime company executive Tyler Hollingsworth.
Hollingsworth, a former Allegiant pilot who has been with Allegiant since October 2010, is currently working as the company's senior vice president of flight operations.
The Las Vegas-based Disc Counter revealed on March 3 that Wilper will step down from “Today” after a 23-year career with Allegiant, adding that he will act as an advisor during his search for his permanent successor.
“I say I'm leaving Allegiant to focus on my family, which is facing some important challenges,” Wilper said.
After joining Allegiant in 2002, Wilper “worked with his team to shape Allegiant into a low-cost career,” the company says. By developing the “subsidized” aspect of Allegiant's business model, he generates revenue in addition to ticket sales through baggage and other surcharged “add-on” fees.
Allegiant CEO Greg Anderson said Wilper has “been contributing to our success” over the past 20 years.
“When I first joined Allegiant, I was hoping we would become a successful airline,” says Wilper. “We've far surpassed our dreams. It has been a driving force for not only airlines but leisure travel.”
