Ma (HM) Passport Office has issued a warning to anyone with a UK passport. This announcement comes before travel experts predict that it will be a very busy summer traveling abroad.
Millions of UK people are scheduled to spurt overseas over the coming months, and a post from X's official HM Passport Office account (formerly Twitter) encourages them to check their passports now.
The alert says: “In some countries, do you recommend that your passport be valid for several months from the scheduled return date? Check the expiration date of your passport today!” The accompanying link shows holiday makers and other travelers who can find all the information they need to travel to 226 countries and their territory.
For example, anyone traveling to destinations within the Schengen area of their UK passports will need a document to have a “issue date” within 10 years of their arrival date. It also requires an “expiration date” at least three months after the day you plan to leave the Schengen region, which consists of approximately 29 countries, including Spain, Greece, France and Italy.
If you are heading to Türkiye with a UK passport, at least one blank page must expire at least 150 days after the date of arrival. And if you go on a holiday to Dubai, or elsewhere in the UAE, your passport must expire at least 6 months after the date of arrival.
